It feels like a really simple task of fusing Google with Alan, together with facial recognition and text to speech software....
Why are these obvious leaps not going ahead?
I am not a scientist so these questions may appear naive but please, do indulge me - I may be Guyus Baltar after all :)

| | Because there is a certain limit, generality, or unrestrictedness, no conventional software can cross. We cannot stop the wind, we cannot go against the laws of nature, we can only go by the laws of nature. Yes it is possible to fuse Alan with Google, but it would not be that human-like being many may want to see.
But to approach unrestrictedness, this is something completely different, something almost not researched today at all. Very likely there also would be no research, and the only reason for that is the complete lack of interest by people concerning that kind of research. Or even hostility against any such approach, what has become evident also in this forum.
