How about topic of conversation. Easily replaced if the topic changes but good when asked, "what are we talking about?" And what about, subject in relation to. Comparison!
Food for thought...

But as far as I know the brain has a short term and long term memory. Hal has a long term memory accessed by the keyword "wrong", however Hal has no short term memory. The trick as far as I can tell is to allocate a session to the short term and then find a way of filtering this before it becomes long term.
A new training mechanism of validating information before it becomes long term is needed. I don't know what overhead this would place on your servers. Put why not push some of that varible handling over to the local users machine and then update the central files at the end of the session?
Just an idea...

In real chat people don't always do answer response, they alter their time to think or rush in as appropriate. Hal could bluster on in a conversation if the user fails to responed.
Of course over several turns if the user doesn't answer then time out the session?
Another idea.... Brought to you by late night beer induced miss firing nuerons :-)

If I could really ask for anything, it would be that the devide between week an strong AI be bridged...
If the project needs funding then work out a subscription package, ask up front & i'll be the first to join but don't loose the true spirit of adevor for commercially viable products?

Is this site a gimmick? I would hate for these interfaces to be nothing more than a hack joke. I like the idea of AI and where it seems to be heading. All of the ideas and theories are enticing and it is fun to be a part of. Sorry for the skepticism. I just wouldn't like to waste my time on something someone thought was humorous.

Different aspects of recognition are moving forward. "Project Natal as an example" Yet none of these technoligies seem to be combined in a meaningfull way...
I am not a coder but ask, why has development stalled?
Another late night ramble braught to you by to much beer :-)
