I have a little stupid question, but it's the second evening I'm playing with the matter. I took the most popular example with the RGB feature vectors and the training works just fine. But I'm wondering if there are (standard) methods to work with a SOM when it has been trained. How to determine the number of resulting clusters? And their boundaries? And the most important: how to classify a new input vector?
