Can 'we' even devise a correct test ?

We all have our own criteria for the acceptantance of ture AI

But each night when we dream we are talking to people all the time - and we dont realise they are not real - infact we interact with them in every 'humanly' way possible - test satisfied

Yes I know its a "but we are dreaming" kind of problem - but it does put the question

"Figments of our imagination" - defint it

there is so much we dont know

so much

For Artificial Consciousness, there are certain objective aspects of consciousness which we can test. We know some precise things which it has to be able to do, and we can objectively test whether it does that, not subjectively as it often is the case with Turing test. Yes we can test imagination, too, the system makes certain models of the environment, we can find out whether there is such model and what kind of model it is. We cannot test absolutely everything which happens inside the system, but we would not even need that.

There is so much which we don't know, sure, but also there is so much which we can do. And the problem regarding certain things is that, no one does.

Hi tkorrovi good to hear from you

Yes I agree with all you say - The eveloution of science is built on the processes you mentioned

I guess I was looking at the whole 'are we awake -when we are awake' thing

As in - To create a system , we must be able to define it - completly -first

It wont make any difference in any way - as we have not option but to carry trying to create true AI with what we have -

its just an obversation i guess

one of the many that creates problems in different ways

For me - sometimes - when deeply following a train of thought in some complex AI function - I see problems, that if overcome - would lead to a 'God Like' level of ability/understanding (NO GOD/RELIGION NONSENCE PEOPLE) - But basically a level of ability/knowledge too far out of reach for us right now

Although I hope I live long enough to have my first chat with a real True Ai

It could be tomorow - I hope

be good

'God like'? Yes, why not, and this has nothing to do with religion. All the religions partly come from some knowledge, remember that once there was no difference between religion and science. And surprisingly, some remnants of the very basic knowledge which has influenced several religions, still remain. You can also find some of them in some philosophies like neoplatonism, but i think that they appear in the most condensed form in the emerald tablets. Very approximately, the principles of oneness, reflection, and unlimited adaptation, this is what 'God like' in some religions means. And surprisingly, we don't see these principles much in science, in spite that they are fully objective and have i would say, mathematically precise meaning.
